Giorgos V. Angelopoulos

Giorgos V. Angelopoulos is Associate Professor of Social and Political Anthropology in the Department of History and Archaeology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and Director of the Folklore Museum and Archives of AUTH. He studied at Panteion University, the University of St Andrews, and the University of Cambridge, where he earned his PhD.
His research interests focus on identity politics, ethnicity and nationalism, migration, the ethnography of the Balkans, and the development of the social sciences within the university. He has taught at the University of Cambridge, Panteion University, the University of Graz, the University of Nicosia, and the University of Macedonia. He served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs (2017–2018) and as Head of the Prime Minister’s Office in Thessaloniki (2018–2019).
