Event Highlights | “Young People for Europe and the Left – Perceptions and Expectations”

The event “Young People for Europe and the Left – Perceptions and Expectations” was successfully held on Friday, February 27, during which the findings of the Prorata study “Mapping Youth” were presented. The research was conducted on behalf of the Nikos Poulantzas Institute and The Left in the European Parliament.

The discussion highlighted the phenomenon of a “blocked transition to adulthood” experienced by a generation facing rising living costs, precarious employment, housing pressure and uncertainty about the future. The findings are striking: 92% consider wages to be low, 65% rely on financial support from their families, while only 31% believe that the future will be positive.

Particular emphasis was placed on the changing perception of Europe: from a promise of opportunity to a last resort, within a broader environment of social insecurity and a crisis of trust.

The strong attendance and lively discussion confirmed the need for meaningful policies that address the needs of the younger generation and reconnect social justice with the European project.
