Maria Repoussi

Maria Repoussi is Professor of History Education. She taught History at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her scholarly work focuses on history education, curriculum, and public uses of the past. She has edited and authored history textbooks for formal education and has published extensively in leading international peer-reviewed journals. Among her major publications is the edited volume History Wars: The Past in Contemporary Global Conflicts, published in 2019 by Palgrave Macmillan.
She has served as President of the International Research Association for History and Social Sciences Education (IRAHSSE). In parallel with her academic career, she has been politically active since her student years within the Renewing Left and the feminist movement, while also participating in civic initiatives related to education policy and local governance. She was elected Member of the Hellenic Parliament for the First Piraeus constituency in 2012 with the Democratic Left (DIMAR). In 2019, she joined SYRIZA through the Bridge initiative. She currently serves as a member of the Central Committee of SYRIZA, Coordinator of the European Policy Department, and Director and Scientific Head of the Nicos Poulantzas Institute.
