“With a Wide Angle Lens” – Special issue| October 2025

With a Wide Angle Lens

A periodical on international trends published within the thematic area The World, Europe, and the Left of the Nicos Poulantzas Institute

The aim of With a Wide-Angle Lens is to present to Greek readers key aspects of international developments and trends — engaging with current affairs, yet not bound by them. Drawing on the contributions and analyses of a wide network of collaborators — both regular and occasional, from Greece and abroad — and encompassing diverse perspectives and starting points (academic as well as political), we seek to offer exactly what our title suggests: a wide-angle lens through which to approach the fast-changing world we live in.

SPECIAL ISSUE / OCTOBER 2025

The new issue of Wide-Angle is out — a special, commemorative edition that also marks a moment of renewal.
This issue takes stock of the five years since the launch of our online publication on international trends.

Over this half decade, Wide-Angle has hosted a wealth of articles and analyses. In a world of constant change, how accurate have their predictions proven to be? Have their insights into key moments stood the test of time? And are they still useful to us today?

We revisit and comment on selected pieces addressing a wide range of topics — from the Left’s responses to the war in Ukraine, developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, and the consequences of the recent pandemic, to the Trump phenomenon, the challenges facing the European Left, and much more.

At the same time, we are preparing our upcoming issue, to be released in December, which will be entirely dedicated to Gaza.

The signed articles express solely the views of their respective authors.
